Maulana Arshan Madni has been elected as President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, for the seventh consecutive term. During his tenure, Madani has galvanized his organization into addressing social issues, especially the education and educational backwardness of Muslims.

He was elected at an extraordinary meeting of the Working Committee; members also discussed many other serious issues facing the country and Muslims.

The working committee passed a resolution thanking Madni for guiding Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in to provide legal and social assistance to Delhi riot victims and the accused, and for countering negative propaganda on Tablighi Jamaat.

In his last term, Jamiat had a strength of 1.15 crore members. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind is paying special attention to the promotion of education, which includes the establishment of schools and madrasa and the granting of scholarships to the poor and needy students for taking up modern and technical education.

The results of its campaign are showing. This year the amount of scholarship has been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore. This particular scholarship has been granted to 600 students, who were selected from all over the country.

So far, 500 students have been paid the amount of the scholarship. While addressing the meeting, Maulana Arshad Madni highlighted the need and utility of the scholarship for deserving students.

Said that with this little effort of ours, the future of many such promising and hardworking children can be transformed. Maulana said that all the governments since independence followed a set policy and put Muslims behind in the field of education.

The Sachar Committee has also confirmed this in its report. He said that Muslims are far behind Dalits in the field of education. Maulana Madni said that we would like to reiterate once again that Muslims put stones on their stomachs to provide higher education to their children and make our new breed a real weapon of education for success in life.

We need such schools and colleges in which our children with religious identity can get higher education without hindrance. Maulana Madani said that the scope of Jamiat is very big. She is working with success in every field. On one hand, while it is opening Maktab and Madrasa, on the other hand, it has started emphasizing general education as well.

On this occasion, apart from Maulan Arshad Madni, Mufti Sayyed Masoom Nazim Umumi Jamiat Ulema A Hind, Maulana Habiburrahman Kasami, Maulana Sayyid Asjad Madani, Maulana Ashhad Rashidi, Maulana Mushtaq Anfer, Mufti Gaya Hassul Etc. were present.
