With the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, Bihar Police on Tuesday warned candidates and their families to remain vigilant against rumours, fake promises and cyber fraud attempts related to the medical entrance test.
The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) urged the public not to be misled by individuals claiming to provide question papers, answer keys or any unfair advantage in the examination.
In an advisory, the police cautioned that cybercriminals may attempt to exploit anxious students by spreading false information and making fraudulent calls ahead of the retest.
"People are advised not to believe misinformation or fraudulent offers from cyber offenders claiming they can provide question papers or answer sheets for the upcoming NEET-UG examination scheduled for June 21," the notice stated.
The EOU noted that anti-social elements could use social media platforms to circulate rumours and compromise the credibility of the examination process. It appealed to students and parents to immediately report any suspicious messages, posts or communications to the authorities.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently announced that the NEET-UG retest would be conducted on June 21 after the examination originally held on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently probing the case.
The police warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in spreading misinformation, cheating candidates or participating in examination-related fraud.
"Those engaged in such activities will face serious consequences, including criminal proceedings," the advisory said.
The EOU also provided channels through which members of the public could report suspicious approaches or fraudulent offers. Complaints can be sent through email at [email protected] or reported via mobile number 9031829067.
Earlier, the EOU had arrested Sanjeev Kumar Singh, popularly known as Sanjeev Mukhiya, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case. He is also wanted in connection with several other examination-related offences.
Mukhiya has additionally been accused of involvement in the Bihar Public Service Commission's Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-3) paper leak in 2024.
The police have issued similar advisories for candidates appearing in other upcoming recruitment examinations, including the Bihar Home Guards clerk examination scheduled from June 10 to June 12 and the constable recruitment test set to be held between June 14 and June 17.

Investigators claim that Mukhiya's network extended across several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. The group has also been linked to alleged leaks involving recruitment examinations in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
