Muslims clerics and scholars have unequivocally asked for declaring Pakistan a terror-sponsoring State because of its role in the dastardly attacks through a 10-member Lashkar-e-toiba terrorist squad on Mumbai on 26 November, 13 years ago. In their message on the anniversary of the Mumbai attacks, the ulema of Mumbai strongly condemned the attack while paying tributes to the Army and security force personnel martyred in the attack. It may be noted that 18 personnel of the national forces –  Mumbai Police, NSG, and Army were killed fighting Pakistani terrorists who attacked at three places.

Among those killed were citizens of five countries including Israel, the USA, and the UK. At least 166 persons had received injuries in the attacks. Nine of the terrorists were killed while one –Ajmal Kasab was captured alive and hanged after the court verdict against him.

Maulana Daryabadi, Deoband, said, “We pay tribute to the security personnel and officers who were martyred in the Mumbai terror attacks.” Extending his condolences to their families Daryabadi said, “All the citizens of the country are proud of their sacrifice.”

He said, "We should take a pledge that we will always be ready to make a sacrifice for our country and not let any force intimidate us. Let us always cooperate with those who are dutifully protecting our country. We must remember that this country needs brotherhood. We call upon all the people to promote brotherhood and strengthen the country."

He said terrorist Ajmal Kasab was dealt with through justice and hanged after a Court’s verdict.

Maulana Zia of Goregaon said, “It’s painful to remember how Pakistanis had carried out terrorist attacks on Mumbai; the attacks rattled all Indians. However, the Mumbaikars have been reliving the pain suffered on that day for 13 years and it’s not ebbing.”

Maulana Zia further said, "Pakistanis should be held accountable for this incident and taught a lesson."

Maulana Shoaib Khan Khateeb of Jamia Masjid Mumbai, said, “We condemn the attack by Pakistan and we also condemn the Pakistanis; we pray to God to save this country from such calamities in the future.”

Maulana Moin Mian Sufi Barelvi, while paying tribute to the martyrs, slammed Pakistan and said, "We strongly condemn the terrorist attack on Mumbai by Pakistan and call upon the United Nations to declare Pakistan as a terrorist state. Terrorist Hafiz Saeed should be hanged publicly. We pay tribute to the officers who laid down their lives to protect this country and this city and we pray for their families."

Besides the individual clerics, and scholars the Sufi Islamic Board has also paid tributes to the heroes of Mumbai Police and NSG who sacrificed their lives for the safety of the country and its citizens.
