A fire broke out on the fourth floor of a multi-storey residential building in south Delhi's Greater Kailash-1 area on Tuesday, prompting a swift response from emergency services. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, officials said.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a call was received at 11:36 am regarding a fire in an air-conditioning unit at a residence in GK-1 Enclave.

"Domestic articles caught fire inside a house on the fourth floor of the building. The fire was brought under control at 1:30 pm," a DFS official said.

Nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot to contain the blaze.

Satendra Singh, president of the Greater Kailash-1 Residents' Welfare Association, said local residents immediately alerted the authorities after noticing the fire.

"We got information that an AC had caught fire and immediately informed the fire brigade, ambulance and police. All emergency services reached on time. Everyone was evacuated safely and no casualties were reported," he said.

Singh added that the air-conditioner involved in the incident had reportedly been serviced just two days earlier.

A resident of the neighbourhood, Amarjeet Kaur, said the occupants acted promptly after noticing sparks from the appliance.

"An AC sparked and the occupants immediately came into action. They went downstairs to switch off the main power supply of the building after turning off the AC. The room was completely filled with smoke," she said.
