Supreme Court has refused to interfere in the ongoing Hijab Ban case that is being argued in the Karantaka High Court, as one of the students who had filed the petition before the High Court approached the apex Court on Friday.

The Supreme Court observed: Karnataka High Court is already hearing the case.

Chief Justice of India N V Ramana told senior advocate Devadatt Kamat, who appeared for the petitioner, “We can’t do anything now, don’t spread it to larger levels. We will interfere at the appropriate time.”

A special leave petition was filed before the court seeking an ex parte ad-intrim stay against the order of the Karnataka High Court whereby students have been asked to not wear any kind of clothing which is religious in nature to schools and colleges.

This is the second time the apex court has refused to entertain a petition on the Hijab ban saying it was being heard at the level of the High Court.
