A group of Kashmiri pundits set an example in communal unity at the Srinagar airport on Saturday morning by giving Haj pilgrims a heart-warming welcome on their homecoming.
Mohit Bhan, a Kashmiri Pandit entrepreneur has posted on Twitter a short video which shows Kashmiri pundits welcoming Haj pilgrims on their homecoming.
In the 59 second video which captures the inclusivity of India, a group of Kashmiri pundits are seen greeting the pilgrims with roses, Aarti, traditional Naat seeking the blessings of the Prophet.

The gesture is an affirmation of the fact that syncretic culture is very much alive in India.
Mohit who describes himself as a student of peace, has tweeted, ‘Our Kashmiri Pundits welcoming Hajis at Srinagar airport by singing traditional Naat seeking the blessings of Prophet. This is our syncretic culture. Believers of Islam are enablers of Amarnath Yatra and the followers of Shaivism are messengers of unity.’’
Of the first batch of 410 pillgrims who returned from Saudi Arabia on Saturday, 145 landed in Srinagar.
Kashmir’s Divisional Commissioner, P.K. Pole, Central Kashmir DIG Sujit Kumar, Haj committee officials and others welcomed the passengers at the airport.
The last flight carrying Haj pilgrims is expected to land in Srinagar on August 1.
