In a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India’s long-standing position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy in the context of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

Since the Russia-Ukraine war started in February, PM Modi has been appealing to both the countries to find a peaceful resolution to end the conflict. 

These talks have come after the G7 nations criticized Russia. PM Modi had reaffrmed India's stand at the G7 summit last week.

The two leaders also reviewed the implementation of the decisions taken during the latter's visit to India in December last year.

According to an official statement, the two leaders, in particular, exchanged ideas on how bilateral trade in agricultural goods, fertilisers and pharma products could be encouraged further.

Modi and Putin also discussed global issues, including the state of the international energy and food markets.
