In a show of solidarity with Kashmiri Hindus, who observed Janaury 19 as a Holocaust day in memory of their exodus from their homeland under threat from terrorists and extremists 32 years ago, groups of Kashmiri Muslim young activists held candle light vigils and marches in Srinagar in support of the Hindus.

A march was taken out in Srinagar city with participants holding placards that announced the “January 19 is a blot on Kashmir's fair name.”

Ravinder Pandita, A Delhi based cuyltural activist shared the video of the marching youth on Twitter:

The participants raised slogans of unity of Kashmiris. The images and videos of young men and women marching in solidarity with the Hindus living in exile were shared by a lot of people of social media. Many Kashmiri pandits living a refugees in their country appreciated the gesture of the younger Kashmiri youth.

A candle light vigil was held on the banks of Dal Lake near Nishat Garden in the biting cold.

Namrata, a Kashmiri activist, who shared the video of the Nishat chowk candle light vigil said in her post on Twitter: “this kind of demonstration in Srinagar was unheard of until a year or so back. A change is evident, even if slow. Young women and men have braved the cold and probably the disapproval of many, to show solidarity with Kashmiri Pandits, it means a lot.”

Reports of similar candle light marches are also coming from others areas of Kashmir.
