After making waves by paying a visit to a mosque and a madrasa in Delhi in a day and holding discussions with Muslims on communal harmony, Rahstriya Svayamsewak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Friday that the Indian concept of nationhood drives from the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (world is one family).

He said, due to this the country can not have the threat of being ruled by a ‘Hitler’, an euphemism for a narcissist and authoritarian despot.

The RSS chief was speaking at at a function organised by the Sankalp Foundation and a group of former bureaucrats in the capital.

He said, our nationalism does not pose any threat to others.” It is not our nature. Our nationalism tells that the world is one family (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam) and furthers this feeling among the people across the world.

”That's why there can't be Hitler in India. If there is any, the people of the country will pull him down.”

He said, everyone talks about the world as one in terms of a market, but it’s only India that talks about Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam. He said India is not only speaking about world as one family but is also working toward that.

Bhagwat stressed that India's concept of nationalism is different from other nationalisms, most of which are based on either religion or a language or common interest of the people.

He said that diversity has been a part of India's nationalism since ancient times. It is natural for us to have different languages and different ways of worshiping God. This land not only provides food and water, it also gives values.

“That's why we call it Bharat Mata.”
