A court in Patna on Tuesday granted interim relief to noted educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, by staying his arrest until further orders in connection with a case linked to an alleged firing incident involving his security personnel.

The development came after Khan Sir moved an anticipatory bail plea before the court on Monday.

His counsel, Arvind Kumar Mouar, told reporters that the court directed the investigating agency to produce the case diary and details of any antecedents before the next hearing.

"The court has stayed his arrest until further orders. It has also sought the case diary and other relevant records. After examining these documents, a final decision is expected to be taken," Mouar said.

According to the lawyer, the next date of hearing is yet to be fixed.

He added that the court also sought records related to the two security guards who were detained by the police in the same case. Their matter is scheduled to come up for hearing separately.

"The hearing concerning the two guards will take place after the case diary is produced before the court," Mouar said.

The counsel further stated that Khan Sir has been granted protection from coercive action and would cooperate fully with the investigating authorities whenever required.

The case stems from an incident on the night of June 2, when a group of around 15 to 20 individuals allegedly vandalised the premises of Khan Global Studies Institute in Patna and hurled stones at the coaching centre.

Police later detained two security guards associated with the institute, alleging that they had opened fire during the disturbance.
