Incessant and heavy rains continued to batter many districts in coastal Karnataka on Wednesday.
Normal life was completely disrupted due to flooding with landslides reported from some parts. In some areas, roads were washed away.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has directed district officials to take up immediate relief measures in the affected region.
Rain has pummelled Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Belagavi, Hubballi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and other districts of the state. The arrival of international flights has been disrupted at Mangaluru International Airport.
Schools, Colleges and all educational institutions have been ordered to shut down in seven districts of the state with Orange alert sounded in Dakshina Kannada.
