Second Monkeypox case in India

The second confirmed case of Monkeypox was reported in India on Monday.

The 31-year-old infected person arrived in Kerala from Dubai. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Pariyaram Medical College hospital in Kannur.

All those who came in close contact with him has been isolated.

The first case in the country was recorded in the state's Kollam district on July 14, after a man who arrived from the UAE tested positive.

Monkeypox is a viral zoonosis (a virus transmitted to humans from animals) with symptoms similar to those seen in smallpox patients, although it is clinically less severe.
