India witnessed a jump in Covid infections with more than 18,000 cases reported in 24 hours till Thursday morning.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with new infections, the country has crossed the one lakh mark in active cases. The figure now stands at 1,04,555 up from 99,602 on Wednesday morning.

The daily positivity rate in the country has also spiked to 4.16. The recovery rate stands at 98.55 per cent.

Amid the recent surge reported in COVID-19 cases across the country, the Health Ministry of India earlier this month had urged States and Union Territories to not lower their guards and strictly maintain the COVID appropriate behaviour.
