In a series of attacks on soft targets that occurred almost simultaneously, the terrorists killed owner of Srinagar’s largest medicine store and a non-local vendor in Srinagar, and a civilian in village Hajin in north Kashmir late evening.

 

Terrorists killed the owner of Srinagar’s largest medicine store and a Golguppa vendor from Bihar in Srinagar and a civilian in north Kashmir late evening.

 

Bindroo, owner of Bindroo medicates was one of the few Kashmiri Pandits who didn’t leave the Valley even after the mass exodus of his community – Kashmiri Pandits – 30 years ago.

 

The vendor was identified as Virender Paswan, a resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar. He had come to Srinagar to make a living by selling golguppa on a push cart and was living in a rented accomodation in the Zadibal area.

 

Paswan was shot on the roadside in Lal Bazar. He was shot from close range and died on the spot. His listless body lay close to his golguppa vend till police arrived.

 

The third target was Mohammad Shafi Lone of Naikdkhai in Hajin, Bandipora.

 

All the three killings happened in quick succession to one another. Both the killings in Srinagar were not too far away.

 

The elderly owner of the Bindroo medicine store in the heart of Srinagar M L Bindroo had received four bullets. He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

 

The deaths have shockwaves across the valley and alerted the Police and security forces to the challenge of lurking terrorists.

 

Police have launched searches in several places to track the killers.

 

Several organizations and individuals have condemned the killings and challenged terrorists to reverse peace.
