Two top NC leaders join BJP in J&K

New Delhi

In Jammu and Kashmir National Conference party received a set back when two of its top leaders from Jammu region, Devender Rana and Surjit Singh Slathia joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its headquarters.

Incidently, Rana is the younger brother of MOS in PMO Jitendra Singh. Dr Singh was also present when his brother joined the BJP.

Both Rana and Salathia had resigned from the membership of the National Conference on Sunday. National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah had acepted their resignations.

"Dr Farooq Abdullah has received and accepted the resignations of Salathia and Mr Rana. No further action or comment is deemed necessary," the party tweeted.

Slathia in 2014 had represented the Vijaypur constituency while Rana the Nagrota constituency in the since dissolved Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

Their joinng the BJP is a major win for the saffon party in J&K more so when there is expectations of the Union territory going for elections in the coming year, after delimitation of Constituencies.
