Police on Wednesday arrested an allaged notorious woman drug peddler from Bandipora, north Kashmir. The woman identified as Posha Begum had been evading arrest for over a month.

Police issued a statement on the arrest of the woman who had been evading arrest for a very long time.

It said the Bandipora police arrested a notorious female drug peddler, Posha Begum, of Bandipora who was evading arrest after she managed to escape on 25 August, 2022 from the house owned by her husband Khursheed Ahmad Waza.

The police said, “Keeping the sensitivity of matter in mind, a special investigation team was constituted to trace her by SSP Bandipora Mohmad Zahid under the supervision of DYSP headquarters Bandipora Shafat Mohmad.

On Tuesday morning, two teams of PS Bandipora - one headed by SHO PS Bandipora and inspector Ashiq Hussain and the other by Sub-inspectors Aquib Ahmad and Rakesh Kumar launched the operation.

The teams got “specific information regarding her presence in Bandipora and it was corroborated with technical assistance,” Police said.Based on the technical surveillance, Police raided different places in Bandipora to nab her.

Posha Begum was produced before the court in Bandipora and was granted judicial remand.
