The Municipal Corporation of South Delhi has decided to ban the sale of meat during the nine-day Hindu festival of Navratri.
Mukkesh Suryaan, Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation said, since during Navratri, 99% of households in Delhi don't even use garlic and onion, it has been decided by the body that no meat shops will be open in South MCD
The decision is being implemented from Tuesday, 5 April
He said all the licenses to meat shops will be issued in future with this clause. He said he had also written to the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to withdraw his government’s discount on alcohol during Navratri, and if possible, stop the sale of liquor for 9 days too.”
