Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shoriful Islam's fierce bowling helped Bangladesh defeat West Indies in the first ODI on Sunday night.

Emerging spinner Hasan Miraz was the hero for Bangladesh with a brilliant spell that netted 3/36. He was adjudged as the Player of the Match.

Put in to bat by Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal, the hosts could manage only 149 for 9 in the 41-overs-a-side match. Nine overs were cut from each innings due to a wet outfield.

Shamarh Brooks top-scored for the home team with 33 runs.

Chasing 150 for the first win of their tour, Bangladesh never looked in any trouble as they comfortably reached the target for the loss of 4 wickets in 31.5 overs.

Mahmudallah top-scored for Bangladesh with an unbeaten 41.
