Tight bowling by India, led by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi's two-wicket haul respectively helped the Men in Blue to defeat West Indies by 68 runs in the first T20I of the five-match series on Friday.
Chasing a target of 191, the hosts could muster only 122 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs to give India a comprehensive win in the series opener.
Ashwin took 2 for 22, while Bishnoi scalped an equal number of West Indian batsmen for 26 runs in his quota of four overs.
Earlier, batting first, a half-century by captain Rohit Sharma and a blistering cameo of 41 runs by Dinesh Karthik guided India to post 190/6.
Rohit smashed 64 runs off 44 balls while Dinesh Karthik scored a 19-ball unbeaten 41. While the Indian skipper hit seven boundaries and two sixes, Karthik’s innings had 4 fours and two maximums.
