Tajamul Islam has told media time and again that she is aiming at winning gold medal at the Olympics.

Tajamul told the Srinagar-based greater Kashmir that in the final bout her rival was very quick in making her moves and she (Islam) didn’t expect that.

“But I kept my clam and it paid off. I waited for her to make mistakes which eventually helped me to fetch points,” she said.

She used to practice three times a day to prepare for the world event each session lasting two hours.

“Practicing harder at regular intervals played an important role in the bagging gold,” she said.

Islam is also the brand ambassador of Beti Bachowo Beti Padoa (BBBP) campaign in J&K.

Tajamul’s father, Ghulam Mohammad Lone told the newspaper that as the news of her winning gold medal in world Kickboxing championship spread, relatives, neighbors and people thronged to his home to congratulate the family.

“It is a proud moment that my daughter gave us,” he said.
