Former Indian batter VVS Laxman is likely to coach the Indian team in the opening T20 International against England in Southampton.

Laxman, who is currently the chief of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), was the coach of the Indian team for the two-match series against Ireland last month.

Laxman had accompanied the team as a coach because the regular head coach Rahul Dravid was with the Indian test squad for the Edgbaston match which is currently underway.

India and England will face each other in a three-match T20 series starting on July 7. Southampton, Birmingham and Nottingham will be the venues for the three matches.
