MG Tambis, Sarchey win Haji Mussa Groungjuk Memorial Archery tournament

MG Tambis in modren archery and Sarchey were declarer winners in modern archery and traditional archery respectively in the first Haji Mussa Groungjuk Memorial Archery Tournament here on Friday.

The tournament was organised by Ladakh Blood Donors Youth, an organisation that is promoting the culture of blood donation to save lives in Kargil. Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho, registrar, University of Ladakh, and Dr Haji Ali, Pathologist, were present on the occasion.

Dr Haji Ali while appreciating the efforts of Ladakh Blood Donors and said the organisation has helped in emergencies. He asked the people to come forward for blood donation.

Dr Haji Ali announced Rs 2,000 reward to each member of the winning teams. He also asked everyone including the sports persons and the audiences to donate blood.

He also appreciated the efforts of Nasir Zaidi, Owner and Director STv Ladakh for using social media to elicit blood donation. He said through the whatsapp group of Ladakh blood Ddnors, more than 222 pints of blood has been arranged at District hospital Kargil with above 300 Active Blood Donors and Volunteers as members.

He said the tournament is a great tribute to memory of Haji Mussa Groungjuk since he was a blood doner.

Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho said University of Ladakh will soon start its annual sports activities in all its constituent colleges.

Its pertinent to mention here that the Ladakh Blood Donor has arranged more than 65 Pints of Blood During Lockdown.

Mussa Groungjuk was the pioneer o blood donation in Kargil.  According to Haji Mohammad Ali of Blood Bank, Kargil, Haji Mussa used to Donate Blood more twice in 3 months.

Chief Guest and other guest presented awards and mementos amongst the winner and runner up teams.

Special reorganization award was also presented to Senior Lab Technician of Blood Bank Kargil for his contribution in this noble cause.
