Nikhat Zareen clinches gold in national boxing

Nikhat Zareen of Telangana has won the 2021 Championship Best Boxer award with a gold medal for her outstanding performance in the ring. 
 
Nikhat earned this honour in the 5th Elite Women's Boxing Championship held in Hisar, Haryana.
 
Nikhat Zareen won the gold medal in the 52kg category by defeating Meenakshi of Haryana 1-4. 
 
Nikhat’s performance was outstanding. After winning the Boxer of the Year 2021 award, National champion Nikhat Zareen said she faced many challenges during her bout.
 
Her final bout was against the host Haryana. Nikhat has won the gold medal in the national championship for the first time, so this gold is also very special for him. Nikhat Zareen said, 'The year started very well, now I will try my best to win a medal in the world championship.’

She said, 'During the lockdown, I exercised at home, but if you are hungry for something then no one can stop you. Nikhat said, “I was hungry to become a national champion.” Now I aim to win a gold medal for India in the World Championship.
 
Nikhat said, “I got to learn a lot under coach John Paul. This is the reason why I won all the matches by unanimous decision. In 2016, she lost in the quarter-finals in 54kg. 
 
Nikhat will soon be joining the national camp for the World Championships.
 
She said that winning gold in nationals also means big responsibility. “I don't know in which category the great Mary Kom will fight in the coming days. But, I am more concerned about my journey to climb the summit," she said.
 
"I dedicate this gold to my parents, family members, and well-wishers besides my colleague Asha," she said.

Nikhat Zareen was born on 14 June 1996 in Nizamabad. She started boxing training under the supervision of her father Muhammad Jameel Ahmed and mother Parveen Sultana. In 2009, she was trained under the supervision of Dronacharya award-winning coach Ivy Rao.
 
Earlier she won a bronze medal in the 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament in Guwahati. She won a silver medal at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok.
 
Nikhat Zareen has been appointed as a Staff Officer in the Regional Office of Bank of India, AC Guards, Hyderabad, for her outstanding performance in Boxing and making Telangana world famous. 
 
In 2017, she suffered from a shoulder injury. However, she never felt disappointed. Though her training was affected during Corona and the lockdown, she kept practice at home.
