World boxing champion Nikhat Zareen, was given a rousing welcome at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Friday night.

Sports Minister V Srinivas Gowda, Telangana State Sports Authority (SATS) President A Venkateshwar Reddy andofficials were at the airport to receive the world champion in the 52 kg category. a batter of officers were also present to welcome Nikhat and two other athletes from Telangana Esha Singh and Nizamabad Football Gughuloth Somuya at the airport.

While Isha won three gold medals in the team events at the IASSF Junior World Cup in Germany, Sumia won the Indian Women's League Championship with the Gokalam Kerala women's team. All three players were welcomed by officials and they were carried to the rally from airport in an open jeep.

On the occasion, Sports Minister Srinivas Gowda congratulated the three players.

He said that Nikhat Zarin belonging to a middle class family of Nizamabad has become a movement for the whole country. No one from South India has been able to accomplish this feat. Nikhat has become a world champion

He said, “We hope that she will also win an Olympic medal for the country.”

On this occasion, he also congratulated the parents of Nikhat Zarin.

He also claimed that the state government was helping the players on a large scale and planned to build mini stadiums in all the districts to promote the sport.

Nikhat thanked the Telangana government for its continued support and cooperation. "I am very happy to have won the World Championship medal," Nikhat said.

My next goal is to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games, and my focus is also on winning a medal  at the Paris Olympics.
