Dr Dil Ara has probably become the first woman from the Muslim-majority Malegaon region of Mumbai, Maharashtra, to becomes a surgeon.
This is significant given the milieu in Malegoan where traditionally woman were not encouraged to dream big and were married at a younger age. Winds of change are blowing over this Muslim majority area and Dr Dil Ara's rise is a testimony to it.
Dr Dil Ara has become the first women to clear her Masters in surgery, M.S degree from the Government Medical College.
Dr. Dil Ara belongs to the family of a reputed physician Dr Sheikh Salim. Her father Dr. Zahid Rashid also is a physician.
Dr. Dil Ara wants to continue her educational journey and become a super specialist in her field in due course of time.
