Wife accuses UP ex-minister of giving her oral talaq

New Delhi

The wife of a former Samajwadi leader of Uttar Pradesh has alleged her husband is planning to marry for the sixth time after giving her triple talaq.

The leader is Chaudhary Bashir of Agra and the Mantola police have booked a case under Section 3 of the Protection of Rights on Muslim Women's Marriage Act, 2019 under Section 3 of the Protection of Rights Act, 2019 and Section 504 of the IPC.

Chaudhary Bashir’s wife Nagma told the police that she came to know on July 23 that her husband was going to marry a woman named Shaista for the sixth time.

When Nagma Choudhary confronted her husband, Choudhary Bashir physically assaulted her and also uttered triple talaq and threw her out of the house.

Nagma is the third wife of the former minister. Nagma told reporters that she had married Bashir in November 2012. They have two sons.

She alleged that her husband and sister-in-law have been torturing her physically and mentally since their marriage.

Nagma finally resorted to legal action and the matter is pending in court.

Nagma has also posted a video on social media requesting the police for help.

Chaudhary Bashir was a minister in the Mayawati government and later joined the Samajwadi Party.

However, he later left the SP and he is unaffiliated at the moment.
