J&K locales to host mega event of G-20 Summit

Jammu and Kashmir’s different locales will host the G20 summit next year. This will be the biggest and the most prestigious international event held in the Union territory so far.
 
This year’s summit is being held in Bali, Indonesia, towards the end of this year.
 
The Ministry of External Affairs has informed us that India’s G20 presidency will begin on December 1, 2022. This has sent a wave of thrill across J&K as people believe it would not only add to the prestige of UT but also led to rapid developments of infrastructure.

Dr Darakshan Andrabi, chairperson of the J&K Waqf board has expressed her happiness with this announcement on Twitter:
 
It will be the 1st International summit to be conducted in the J&K, after the withdrawal of the special status under Article 370. It will convene all the leaders of the G20 member countries.
 
The Ministry of External Affairs has also said that the Union minister of textiles and commerce, food, and public distribution Piyush Goyal will be the Sherpa for the G20 summit.
 
G20 comprises 19 countries - Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union that itself represents 24 countries.
 
At the summit, the aim is to establish growth, prosperity, and financial stability in the global economic sector.
