India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar is among the senior government leaders who had blasted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for calling the Indian Foreign Service as “arrogant’ while addressing a largely foreign audience in London.

Jaishakar said: “Yes, the Indian Foreign Service has changed. Yes, they follow the orders of the Government. Yes, they counter the arguments of others. No, it’s not called Arrogance. It is called Confidence. And it is called defending National Interest”

He posted his comment in reply to a clip of Gandhi speaking at an event organised by think-tank Bridge India in London, said several bureaucrats from Europe had told him that the Indian Foreign Service had “changed completely.”

“They are arrogant, they don’t listen to anything. Now they are just telling us what orders they are getting,” Gandhi said.

India is not in a good place. BJP has spread kerosene all over the country. You need one spark and we will be in big trouble. And I think that is also the responsibility of the opposition, Congress - that bring communities states, religions together.”

Rahul Gandhi has faced trolls for his comments against the Indian government on a foreign soil.
