No Jaishankar-Bilawal meet at Tashkent

Contrary to the hype created in certain quarters, there was no meeting or even interaction on the sidelines between Dr S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India and his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in Tashkent during the meeting of the Foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

Jaishankar has held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan

He posted his picture of departure from Tashkent where the foreign minister of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) met to prepare agenda for the Summit.

Jaishankar said “Departing Tashkent after a productive SCO FMs gathering. Bilateral meetings with Uzbek, Tajik, Kyrgyz and Kazakh counterparts advanced the India-Central Asia Summit process. Conversation on the sidelines with FM Sergey Lavrov of Russia was also useful.advanced the India-Central Asia Summit process.”

He also held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the main conference.
