Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters took to Karachi's streets to demonstrate their frustration against the Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Mazari's ruling to re-elect Hamza Shehbaz as Punjab chief minister.

PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has called for protests against the outcome of the Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz's 'surprising' victory in Punjab.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz was re-elected as the chief minister of Punjab after the votes of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) were rejected by the Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker.

Pervaiz Elahi - joint candidate of PTI and PML-Q - received 186 votes, while Hamza Shahbaz got 179 votes. However, 10 votes of PML-Q were cancelled by Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, bringing down Elahi’s vote count to 176.

PTI supporters are protesting across Pakistan against Mazari's ruling. Nationwide protests are happening in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Gujrat, Faislabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sukkur, Layyah, Larkana and Hyderabad.
