Hollywood film Dr Dolittle and its sequels made animal lovers across the world fell in love with the veterinarian who conversed with animals and went beyond the call of his duty to help them.

Back home too we have a Dr Dolittle with no degree and yet the matching passion for and love of the animals. Muhammad Soma, a 21-year-old woman from Mehboobabad, Telangana, has so far saved 120 animals mostly by undertaking risky missions.

Suma is so much in love with animals that she never hesitates to take great risks to her own life while saving rescuing them from a desperate situation.

In recognition of Muhammad Suma's bravery and animal service, Telangana Governor Sai Sandra Rajan presented the award at a ceremony held on the occasion of International Women's Day last year.

Mohammad Suma’s father Mohammad Subhani is a journalist, who always encourages her to follow her heart and passion for saving the mute creatures.

Suma's love is a guarantee of a new life for animals and birds that get injured while negotiating the manmade structures and situations.

Once she had jumped into a well to save a fox that had fallen in it in a village in Mehboobabad. All the villagers and locals had rushed to the well and only watched the fox struggling to keep her head above the water.

Muhammad Suma reached the well; she tied a rope around her waist and with the help of locals descended into the 40 feet deep well. She calmly picked the fox and both came out of the well.

Although the fox didn’t survive as it had remained drowned for a long time, Suma did her best to save it. She expressed sorrow over the death of the fox.

Soma has been risking her life to save animals since she was 11 years. Besides she has also treated many animals who get injured. So far she has saved the lives of 120 animals.

Muhammad Suma is also known for treating injured animals and birds. People call her on spotting an injured animal or a bird. She quickly arrives on the scene, even in the night, and saves the animal.

Suma said that she was inspired by the services of her parents Subhani and Saleema for this work. Both her parents are great animal lovers and have worked for the protection of the environment.

Suma said she was in fifth grade when she rescued a wild animal. Her father guided and helped her in saving the lives of animals.

She admits risk-taking comes with the job of saving animals and that it’s a dangerous job.

However, she has never backed down from any situation. Suma caught a dragon several years ago and handed it over to the forest department.

Suma’s house has a shed where animals are given special treatment.

As soon as the toll-free mobile animal medical ambulance number 1962 is informed that any animal is in danger, Muhammad Suma leaves for his mission.

Soma feels comfortable serving injured animals.

Mohammad Suma arrives to help the animal with a rope, bag and gloves as her weapon. The locals are amazed to see Mohammad Suma's connection with the animals.

Suma is very well known across the region as a woman who saves animals and takes care of their injuries.
