The Imran Khan government may be in denial of the changed realities, the country’s internet-driven younger generation has given a clear verdict – they care more about a young Indian actor who died too early than a 92-year old man who was Pakistan’s flagbearer in Kashmir for over three decades.

It’s coincidence that Indian TV actor Siddharth Shukla of the Bigg Boss fame died on the same day the top separatist Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani had died of old age at 92. Shukla’s death at 40 apparently due to a heart attack came as a shocker to his fans across the sub-continent.

Pakistani media persons were surprised to notice that while Siddhartha Shukla was the top trend in Twitter in Pakistan on Thursday, Geelani was way below him.

Hassan Bn Ihsan, a Pakistani spoke thus about Siddharth on Twitter:

A TV anchor quipped,” I have made a video on Shukla, who was very popular in Pakistan and also about Geelani sahib. I was surprised to see, my video on Shukla has been revisited by so many people in last two days and nobody has even opened the other one on YouTube.”

Indian TV shows are popular in Pakistan though the Indian channels stand banned in the country. However, the bans have no meaning in the times of apps, when people can watch all programme online.

Pakistani fans of the Indian actor have paid tributes to Shukla online.
