E-commerce major Flipkart on Friday said that it witnessed highest-ever number of concurrent users with 1.6 million users per second as it kicked off the ninth edition of its 'Big Billion Days 2022' festive sales.
According to the company, the shoppers were primarily driven from tier 2 and smaller cities.
Categories like laptops, smartwatches and true wireless wearables witnessed the highest demand, while makeup and fragrance category also saw high traction.
There has been a significant rise in customers purchasing groceries on Flipkart, said the company.
The number of kiranas partnering with Flipkart for the festive sales deliveries grew from 27,000 in 2019 to 2 lakhs in 2022.

The sales in the first festive week are likely to touch $5.9 billion this year.
