French personal care giant L’Oréal announced plans to invest Rs 3,500 crore (350 million euros) over the next five years in Telangana, with its new Global Capability Centre (GCC) set to be inaugurated in Hyderabad this November. The facility will focus on advanced beauty-tech solutions, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation.

The company said the Hyderabad GCC will create around 2,000 highly skilled jobs, including positions for AI specialists, data scientists, and technology engineers. The hub is expected to accelerate the development of AI-driven beauty products and services, positioning Hyderabad as a key centre for global digital operations.

L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus made the announcement on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. He described the GCC as “the world’s first Beauty Tech Hub of its kind,” serving as a flagship for AI-powered beauty innovations. “With an initial investment of over Rs 3,500 crore through 2030, this hub will become a global powerhouse, integrating AI, generative AI, and other emerging technologies,” Hieronimus said.

The centre will function as L’Oréal’s innovation, technology, data, and supply chain hub, supporting the company’s global digital transformation. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy welcomed the investment, highlighting its alignment with the state’s “Telangana Rising: 2047 Vision” and the creation of high-value jobs. “This decision reflects the confidence global leaders have in Telangana’s innovation ecosystem and talent pool,” he said.

Industry Minister D. Sridhar Babu noted that Hyderabad’s selection for the GCC was a “strong endorsement” of the state’s ability to attract leading global companies. He added that the state government is committed to extending full support to L’Oréal and other international investors.

Hieronimus emphasized India’s strategic role in the company’s global plans, citing over three decades of L’Oréal’s presence in the country. “The future of beauty lies at the intersection of science, technology, and creativity. Hyderabad will now sit at the heart of our AI and digital ambitions,” he said.

The new hub will operate alongside L’Oréal’s global technology network in countries including France, the US, China, Singapore, Spain, Poland, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico. Officials said the GCC will foster collaboration across L’Oréal’s global teams to co-create innovations for the beauty industry.

Telangana’s Special Chief Secretary (Industries) Sanjay Kumar also invited L’Oréal to explore potential manufacturing opportunities in Hyderabad, in addition to the GCC investment. Hieronimus expressed interest in expanding the company’s footprint in the state, signaling further potential investments in the near future.
