In a brief message on her official Instagram account, Poonam Pandey said, " Hi everyone.It is Poonam.I am alive. I didn't die of cervical cancer. I can;t say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. I am sorry I have cuased this tear and hurt.''
The 32 year-old actress said, " I feel compelled to share something significant with you all- I am here, alive. She said that Cervical cancer didn't claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women who suffered from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle with this disease.''
She further said, " Unlike some other cancers, cervical cancer is entirely preventable. The key lies in the HPV vaccine and early detection tests. In another Insta message, Poonam said that her stunt was aimed at spreading awareness on cervical cancer.
The outpourinng of grief following the news of her sudden death in her home town, Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, turned into rage on social media.
Poonam's official Instagram account posted an update announcing her death. The news was confirmed to ANI on Friday by Parul Chawla, her media manager.
