The four-day Chhath Mahaparv, dedicated to the worship of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, concluded on Tuesday morning with devotees across India offering the traditional ‘Usha Arghya’ (morning prayers) to the rising Sun. Thousands gathered along riverbanks, ponds, and ghats, seeking blessings for prosperity and well-being as hymns and chants filled the air.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also participated in the concluding rituals at BJP leader Sanjay Mayukh’s Patna residence. Praising the devotion of the people, Maurya said, “The faith and belief of devotees are so strong that whatever they pray to Chhath Maiya, it gets fulfilled.” Expressing confidence in the ruling alliance, he added that with Chhath Maiya’s blessings, the NDA government would return to power in Bihar.
BJP leader Mayukh described Chhath as a festival of ‘lok astha’ (people’s faith), symbolizing unity and gratitude. “‘Suryopasna’—the worship of the Sun—is for the prosperity of all. Wherever Indians live across the world, they celebrate this festival together,” he said.
In New Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in the ‘Usha Arghya’ rituals at Hathi Ghat near ITO, expressing gratitude for being part of the sacred celebration. “I feel fortunate to participate in the worship of Chhathi Maiya and celebrate this great festival together with everyone,” she told ANI. The Yamuna ghats, illuminated with lamps and decorations, witnessed large gatherings of devotees performing prayers amid devotional songs.
