The budget session of Parliament begins today at an expectedly stormy note as 18 political parties have announced their members will boycott the President’s address to both the houses.

The opposition is lodging its protest against the government’s handling of the farmers’ agitation and some demanding amendments in the threlated laws.

The finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic survey today.

The union budget will be presented on February 1.

The session that will continue till the first week of April is the first one to be held with full COVID protocol.

The Vice-President and chairman of Rajya Sabha Venkaiah Naidu has taken a COVID test with other members.

Besides, more than 1,200 officials and staff of the Rajya Sabha secretariat have also taken the test. No one has tested positive yet.
