Lucknow: The mosque at village Dhannipur, to be built on the land awarded to Muslims by the Supreme Court in its verdict on Ram Janambhoomi dispute will be ready much before the temple for Lord Ram comes up at Ayodhya, 40 km away.
The mosque to be built by the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) is expected to be ready in 30 months while the temple may take up to 39 months.
According to a statement of the IICF, the 5-acre mosque complex will house a museum and hospital. The premises will have a thick green cover as the IICF is planning to plant indigenous and exotic trees sourced from Amazon rain forests.
At present the soil is being tested before the construction would start. This is expected to take 15 days. A Wakf board official said the construction work of the mosque complex would be completed within six months and the hospital will be ready in two years.
The foundation stone for the mosque was laid on 26 January. On that day, members of the IICF also planted saplings of trees and also hoisted the flag.
Athar Hussain, IICF secretary and spokesperson said, "After the soil investigation report is received, work on obtaining mandatory permissions for the construction from the Ayodhya district Panchayat."
In the meanwhile, two Delhi-based sisters have filed a petition in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court citing their claim to the land where the mosque is to be built. The court is yet to hear the petition.
