The petitioners in the hijab case have decided to challenge the verdict of the Karnataka High Court on the continuation of ban on Hijab in educational institutions in the Supreme Court.
Advocate Anas Tanveer tweeted that Udupi students will challenge the matter in the Supreme Court.

Anas Tanwir said,"These girls will continue to fight for their right to hijab while continuing their studies. These girls have not given up hope from the court and the constitution.."
While pronouncing the verdict, the High Court observed that the history of the hijab has been a complex subject and is influenced by religious and cultural beliefs.

The bench said that that wearing a hijab by Muslim women does not form any essential form of practice in Islamic faith. The prescription of school uniforms is only a reasonable restriction and are constitutionally permissible which the students cannot object.
