The government has launched the full-fledged evacuation of the Indians including a large number of students who are stuck in the war situation in Ukraine that has come under attack of the Russian ground Forces and Air force.

The first bus carrying the Indian students has left for the Romanian border from where they would fly to India.

The first batch of Indian students left Chernivtsi for the Ukraine-Romania border.

The government said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Camp Offices are now operational in Lviv and Chernivtsi towns in western Ukraine.

The authorities are also rushing more Russian-speaking officials in these Camp Offices to assist the students to deal with the local authorities while moving to the border with Poland and Romania.

Sources said Air India is sending two special evacuation flights shortly to Romania to evacuate stranded Indians including students who were in Ukraine.

The government has advised the students not to move on their own or follow the instructions of educational consultants but to wait for instructions from the Indian Embassy in Kyiv.

The embassy will arrange buses up to the border.
The Narendra Modi government has announced the free-of-cost evacuation of all the Indians from Ukraine. This has come as a major relief to students who would have to otherwise pay huge amounts to book their passage home.
