The Jammu-Srinagar National highway was closed for vehicular traffic on Wednesday for a couple ofm hours due to landslides and shooting stones.
"Jammu -Srinagar NHW (NH-44) blocked at multiple locations due to Landslides/Mudslides/Shooting stones," Jammu and Kashmir Traffic police said in a statement.
Mudslides have been reported at various places on the highway due to incessant rains in the valley.
The highway is the lifeline of the Kashmir valley and the main road link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country.
Kashmir bound trucks laden with essential supplies and other vehicles were stuck on the highway for a few hours till it was cleared for traffic to resume.

Meanwhile flash floods occurred in Doda district damaging many houses and schools. Several rivers in the area are flowing above the danger mark.
