Heavy rains continued to lash parts of Karnataka on Thursday. An orange alert has been sounded in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi.

Due to incessant rains, the memorials at Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, have been inundated.

The bridge near the Tungabhadra river built during the time of Vijayanagar Kingdom, Purandar Mantap, Vidhi Vidhana Mantap, Rama Lakshmana temple, Chakrathirtha bathing zone, have also been inundated at Hampi.

The Cauvery river has crossed its danger level.

The water level of the Tungabhadra dam in Koppal district is increasing steadily. Authorities have released water from the reservoir from all 30 crust gates leading to a threat of flooding in the low-lying areas.

According to the state government, 32 lives have so far been lost due to rains in the state this season.
