Two people have died and many are feared injured in a fire that engulfed a hotel in Lucknow’s Hazratganj area on Monday morning.

Several persons, including employees and guests have received burn injuries. Around 20 people have been shifted to hospital in an unconscious state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed senior officials to personally supervise the rescue operations and provide proper treatment to the victims. He has ordered a joint probe to be conducted by the Divisional Commissioner and Police Commissioner of Lucknow.

Fire personnel broke open the glass panes to rescue those trapped inside the hotel. Several guests complained of severe suffocation since the smoke filled the rooms.

CM Yogi Adityanath has announced free medical treatment to all the survivors in the fire incident.
