Growing cases of Covid-19 in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) has led to people moving to their native places in view of the agonising memories of the dreadful situation of a sudden lockdown, a year ago, due to the pandemic.

The inter-terminus bus stand and the Railway stations in NCR are seeing an increased rush of families moving back to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh from Delhi NCR while in the night, police is patrolling the streets to enforce a curfew in Delhi and UP areas. The Railway authorities, though, contend that the rise in footfall is attributed to "summer special trains" running now.

Ravi Batra, senior photo journalist, captured some images from the Anand Vihar Railway station and East Delhi areas in the night bordering Uttar Pradesh for Awaz-the Voice.

Policemen are on duty to ensure people follow the COVID-19 restrictions of the night curfew to minimise the spread of the viral infection.

There is more than usual rush at the Anand Vihar Railway station in East Delhi where people of all stratas are returning home with their families to avoid last minute rush in the trains.

Though in NCR, it's not a panic situation yet, but many people are not ready to take chances and prefer to reach their native towns and villages before the situation worsens.

Many passengers feel it's safer to be in their native places in times of uncertanity as Corona has not reached India's hinterlands so far.

Women in particular are seen returning to their native places along with children while men could continue to work in NCR.
