Amir Subhani is a legend in Bihar; the topper of the 1987 Civil services batch, Subhani rose to become Bihar’s Principal Secretary. This year Mohibullah Ansari followed in his footsteps and became the second Muslim to qualify for the Indian Civil services from the area.

Mohibullah Ansari is a resident of Purva village while Subhani belonged to neighbouring Barharia. At present, Amir Subhani is the Development Commissioner of Bihar.

Mohibullah had cracked the Bihar State civil services examination two months ago, and he has since been given the designation of Executive Officer (MEO). However, Ansari continued to yearn for the UPSC and he did it.

He hasn’t joined the job in the Bihar government, and somewhere he was hopeful of clearing the UPSC.

Mohibullah Ansari's family lives in Haroon Nagar Shanti Kunj in Phulwari for years. His father Abdullah Ansari said his son did his schooling at Don Bosco School in Patna. Thereafter he joined IIT, Delhi, for B Tech in chemical engineering.

He prepared for UPSC from the Residential Coaching Academy, Center for Coaching and Career Planning, and Jamia Millia Islamia. There is palpable jubilation in the Ansari family over the success of their son. His father says he prayed in gratitude as soon as the result was out and he knew of his son’s success.

Mohibullah Ansari is the eldest of his three brothers and two sisters. His mother Sayyedoon Nisha hugged her son and thanked Allah for his success. Mohibullah Ansari's grandfather Maqsood Alam Ansari is very happy about this great achievement of the grandson.

Mohibullah's father Abdullah Ansari is posted as Joint Commissioner (In-charge) of Sales Tax (SGST) in Samastipur Circle. Mohibullah told Awaz-the Voice, "I have worked hard for UPSC. I am really happy to get success after many attempts. UPSC was my target. Perseverance never goes waste. Persistence and courage are essential to achieve any target," he says.

"My village and Amir Subhani's village are in the same police station area," he says with pride.
