The construction of the magnificent Ram temple at Ayodhya is going apace. The 14 doors of its sanctum sanctorum are made of Makrana marble and the inlay work on these is being done by Muslim artisans.

It may be recalled that Muslims had responded positively to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s crowdfunding for Ram Mandir after the Supreme Court upheld the contention that there was a temple in place of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya.

The temple door frame has been brought to the Ram Temple Workshop for the inlay work.

During the Ram Mandir movement, a workshop was set up for the construction of Ram Mandir sat Ayodhya in 1990. Here, the rocks of Bansi mountain are being cut for use in the construction of the temple. It is estimated that the Ram Temple will be ready by 2024. It's being constructed by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth kshetra Trust.

The members of its executive body formed under Napinder Mishra, chairman of the temple construction committee, periodically review the construction of the temple, is overseeing the temple work.

According to information, 3.50 to 4 lakh cubic meters of marble are being brought from the 2000-year-old deposits of Makrana for the temple. Marble stones are being laid on the doors.

Interestingly, the firm that is involved in marble carving is also owned by a Muslim.

This way as and when it’s built, the Ram mandir at Ayodhya will present a glimpse of harmony. The stone carving has already been completed on many pieces of marble and these would be fixed in the temple very soon.

The work on the wall of the temple, and the platform of the shrine are going on a feverish pitch. Sharad Sharma, provincial media in charge of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, claims that a firm in Makrana, Rajasthan, was given the job of carving stones between 2007-2010, with most of the artisans being Muslim.

On the other hand, for wooden doors, the Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra Trust has procured samples of Shesham, (rosewood) Teak and Sakho wood from Mankapur in Bahraich and Gonda. Along with this, the doors and sides of the temple will be made of marble, and the coloured mandap and the Nritya pavilion will be made of wood.

Some of these pieces were made by Muslim artisans between 2007-10 and are kept at Ayodhya for construction at the temple complex.

It is worth noting that after the Hindus were allowed to construct the Temple at the birthplace of Lord Rama at the site of the Babri Masjid built by the Mughal emperor after a long legal battle by an order of the Supreme Court.

All efforts are being made to complete this work on this grand temple as soon as possible.
