A fresh petition has been filed in the Mathura Court seeking a ban on the use of loudspeakers for Azan (call for prayers) at the Shahi Idgah Masjid. The petition was filed by Dinesh Kaushik, national treasurer of the All India Hindu Mahasabha. He claims that the Shahi Idgah is the sanctum sanctorum of the Keshav Dev temple dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Krishna.

The petition states that the use of loudspeakers for azan at the Idgah is a violation of the constitutional right of the plaintiff, who is a Sanatani Hindu.

The Shahi Idgah Mosque of Mathura is located next to the Krishna Janmabhoomi, which is believed to be the birthplace of the Hindu deity Krishna.

Dinesh Kaushik had earlier applied to a local court in Mathura seeking permission to perform purification rituals inside the Shahi Idgah mosque, claiming that Keshav The Dev Mandir was once located there.

The petitioner also states that the fundamental rights of the people living near the Shahi Idgah Mosque are being violated and, therefore, seeks to claim the right over the land where the Idgah is situated.

He sought a direction to be issued to the District Magistrate to prohibit the recitation of Azan through loudspeakers.
