Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Prof. Najma Akhtar called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence yesterday. After presenting the shawl as a tribute to the Prime Minister, the Vice Chancellor discussed a number of issues with him.

This was the second meeting of the Vice Chancellor with the Prime Minister in the last two years. The Vice-Chancellor said that it was gratifying to see that the Prime Minister was aware of the recent achievements of the University, including the A ++ ranking by Yank (NAAC).

She said that it is very encouraging for us that the Prime Minister was happy with the good performance of the university in the last few years. He congratulated Najma Akhtar on her achievements and commended her for taking the university to new heights. Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar briefed him about the process of NAAC accreditation and the standards adopted for grading and also provided him the annual report of the university.

As in the previous meeting, the Prime Minister once again agreed to set up a medical college at the university and hoped that it would be started during the tenure of the present Vice-Chancellor. Professor Najma Akhtar said that the Prime Minister once again expressed his desire to attend the convocation of the university as a special guest. Earlier, he was expected to attend the centenary convocation, but it was canceled due to epidemics.

The Prime Minister asked the Vice Chancellor to do more for the betterment of education of Muslim women and for the effective implementation of NEP. The Vice Chancellor assured the Prime Minister that she would work hard to fulfill her aspirations for the desired change in the nation.
