The Rajasthan policeman Nitresh Sharma, whose picture of rescuing a child from the fire during Sunday's riots in Karouli district of Rajasthan that went viral on social media has been promoted for his bravery.
 
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has ordered the promotion of Constable Nitresh Sharma to Head Constable as a reward for his bravery.
 
Nitresh Sharma, 31, is posted at Karouli Kotwali Police Station when rioting between two groups on Sunday left the place devastated. 
 
A local photojournalist clicked the picture of Nitish and posed it on social media. It went viral and people have showered praises and appreciation for Nitish Sharma.
 
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also appreciated Sharma for his courage. He not only spoke with him on the phone but also ordered his promotion to head constable.
 
In a telephone conversation with Sharma, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that how he had risked his life was commendable. “You deserve congratulations for the courage you have shown,” he said.

Besides the child in the picture, Nitireh Sharma has also saved the lives of four more people.
 
However, his picture of rescuing a child that went viral on social media is being liked and retweeted by many. Everyone is praising this brave young man. 
 
Nitresh Sharma said police were constantly trying to evacuate people trapped in the blaze. Meanwhile, some women were heard screaming and running from a house that had caught fire.
“As I ran toward her, I saw a woman with a small baby in her arms.”
