In his death at the hands of terrorists in Kashmir’s Pulwama towm, the family of Sagir Ahmed has lost their sole bread earner and his five children their father.
Sagir was killed by terrorists in South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Saturday. The terrorists also killed Arabind Kumar Sah of Bihar, a goalgappa seller in Srinagar's Iddgah area the same day.
Ahmed's brother, Mohammad Naeem, said, "He had been working there for one year in the COVID-19 pandemic.” The slain worker has four daughters and a son."
Naeem said that the state government should provide financial help to the family as he was the sole breadwinner. "We got a call from Kashmir Police. They have asked us to reach there and take Ahmed's body. But we are poor people, how will we reach Kashmir?"
While the local councilor of Saharanpur district has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to provide employment opportunities to people in the state so that they don’t have to go to dangerous and hostile places like Kashmir for earning their bread and butter.
Councilor Mansoor said, "The Center is promoting skill and development programs across the country, but here the labourers need to move to some other place for employment opportunities. The Uttar Pradesh government should create opportunities in the State so that there is no need for workers to go to any other state."
Earlier on Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that two non-local laborers have died in firing by terrorists in Srinagar and Pulwama. According to the police, the area has been cordoned off and raids are being conducted to arrest the terrorists.
In a series of tweets, police said, "Arabind Kumar Sah, a golgappa seller from Banka, Bihar, killed by terrorists in Idgah area of Srinagar in J&K."
According to the police, "Terrorists opened fire on 2 non-local laborers in Srinagar and Pulwama. Arvind Kumar Shah of Banka, Bihar succumbed to his injuries in Srinagar and Sagir Ahmed of Uttar Pradesh was seriously injured in Pulwama. Areas were cordoned off. has been taken and search has been started."
Later the police confirmed the news of the death of Sagir Ahmed, a labourer from Saharanpur, UP, who was seriously injured in the terrorist attack in Pulwama.
